| Resumo: | O sofrimento é um estado de intensa aflição, frequentemente ligado a eventos que ameaçam a integridade de uma pessoa. Ele afeta as emoções, influencia as relações e deixa um impacto no corpo e na mente. Na teologia, entende-se o sofrimento como uma participação nos sofrimentos de Cristo. Ele não é benéfico em si mesmo, mas através dele, a pessoa pode dar sentido às suas tribulações temporais a partir da compreensão de que, em Cristo, o sofrimento é um modo de participação na Paixão do Senhor, como nos relata o apóstolo Paulo (Gl 2,20; 6,17). É possível observar também que os sofrimentos humanos ganham sentido com a virtude da esperança escatológica. Através da espera pelo dia definitivo do encontro com o Senhor, o crente encontra uma força motivadora para passar por sua dor. Notamos isso na vivência ordinária dos dias, na missão e na vida sacramental dos fiéis. A problemática desta pesquisa gira em torno das realidades de tribulação do povo de Deus e sobre como a virtude da esperança cristã na vida eterna contribui para a resistência às tribulações temporais. Assim, o objetivo central do presente trabalho é investigar como essa virtude, especificamente no reino definitivo, auxilia o ser humano neste processo de combate aos padecimentos. Nós nos propomos a desenvolver um levantamento de referências bibliográficas do Magistério da Igreja, do Concílio Ecumênico Vaticano II e de teólogos de nossa contemporaneidade, para, assim, alcançarmos o objetivo. Tais elementos servirão de auxílio para compreender, a saber: o sentido do sofrimento no campo teológico, a esperança cristã e sua relação com a escatologia, a relação entre a virtude da esperança escatológica e o sofrimento humano. Ao longo desta pesquisa, perceberemos que a esperança cristã na vida eterna é capaz de guiar e direcionar o povo de Deus em seus sofrimentos. Essa realidade manifesta-se, por exemplo, na busca pelos sacramentos, especialmente a unção dos enfermos. | Abstract: | Suffering is a state of intense affliction, often linked to events that threaten a person's integrity. It affects emotions, influences relationships, and leaves an impact on both body and mind. In theology, suffering is understood as a participation in the sufferings of Christ. It is not beneficial in itself, but through it, one can give meaning to temporary tribulations by understanding that, in Christ, suffering is a way of participating in the Passion of the Lord, as the apostle Paul tells us (Gl 2,20; 6,17). It is also possible to observe that human sufferings gain meaning through the virtue of eschatological hope. Through the anticipation of the definitive day of encounter with the Lord, the believer person finds a motivating strength to endure their pain. We notice this in the ordinary experience of daily life, in the mission, and in the sacramental life of the faithful. The central issue of this research revolves around the realities of tribulation experienced by the people of God and how the virtue of Christian hope in eternal life contributes to their endurance through temporal tribulations. The main objective of this work is to investigate how this virtue, specifically in regard to the definitive Kingdom, helps the human being in the process of confronting suffering. We propose to carry out a bibliographic survey of references from the Church’s Magisterium, the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, and theologians of our time, in order to achieve this objective. These elements will serve to help us understand the theological meaning of suffering, Christian hope and its relationship with eschatology, and the connection between the virtue of eschatological hope and human suffering. Throughout this research, we will see that Christian hope in eternal life is capable of guiding and directing God's people in their suffering. This reality is manifested, for example, in the search for the sacraments, especially the anointing of the sick. This expectation of eternal life can give meaning and resilience to the Christian in the face of suffering |
